AIR PURIFIERS

  • YOU CREATE AIR POLLUTION AND NOISE POLLUTION AND WATER POLLUTION AND YOU GO ON AFTER PURIFIERS.
  • GREAT PEOPLE DO GREAT THINGS.
  • Air pollution in Delhi is caused by a complex combination of
  •  local emission sources (vehicular traffic, construction dust, industrial emissions, and waste burning) and regional/seasonal factors (agricultural stubble burning in neighboring states, geographical location, and adverse winter weather conditions)

Local and Urban Sources
    • Vehicular Emissions: One of the most significant and consistent sources of pollution, with millions of registered vehicles on the roads, many of which are older models that do not meet modern emission standards.
    • Dust (Road and Construction): Rapid urbanization and extensive infrastructure development generate large amounts of dust from roads and construction sites, which is a major contributor to airborne particulate matter (PM10 and PM2.5).
    • Industrial Emissions: Industries located in and around the National Capital Region (NCR) release various pollutants, including sulfur dioxide (
      SO2SO sub 2
      ) and nitrogen oxides (
      NOxNO sub x
), especially those still using coal or lacking adequate pollution control measures.
    • Biomass and Waste Burning: The practice of burning biomass (wood, crop residue, cow dung) for domestic cooking/heating, along with the open burning of garbage, significantly contributes to PM2.5 concentrations, particularly in winter.
    • Diesel Generator Sets: Widespread use of diesel generators during power outages adds to toxic ground-level exhaust.
    Regional and Seasonal Factors
    • Agricultural Stubble Burning: During the post-monsoon and winter months, farmers in neighboring states like Punjab and Haryana burn crop residues to quickly clear fields. The resulting smoke drifts into Delhi, at times contributing up to 40-50% of the city's fine particulate pollution on peak days.
    • Geography and Weather Patterns: Delhi is situated in the landlocked Indo-Gangetic Plain. During winter, a meteorological phenomenon called temperature inversion occurs, where a layer of warm air traps cooler, pollutant-laden air close to the ground. This, combined with low wind speeds, prevents pollutants from dispersing, leading to severe smog.
    • Festivals: Cultural practices, such as the bursting of firecrackers during festivals like Diwali, cause short-lived but intense spikes in the air quality index (AQI).
    Health Impacts
The chronically poor air quality in Delhi has severe health consequences, leading to increased respiratory issues, lung damage (especially in children), and a higher incidence of chronic diseases. The Air Quality Index (AQI) frequently reaches "severe" or "hazardous" levels, prompting public health emergencies.

  • The recent sharp increase in Delhi's pollution is caused by a combination of factors, including agricultural stubble burning in neighboring states like Punjab and Haryana, Diwali firecracker emissions, and unfavorable meteorological conditions like low wind speed and cold temperatures that trap pollutantsThese elements create a perfect storm of pollutants, especially fine particulate matter (PM2.5), leading to the severe smog and toxic haze.
